Elected Officials

Mark is serving his third term as the Mayor of North Beach, having served previously from 1998 – 2006. During his time as mayor, he was elected to the MML Board of Governors and as President of the Maryland Municipal League from 2003 – 2004. He has also served two terms on the Board of Calvert County Commissioners: 1986 – 1990 and 1994 – 1998.

Mark’s emphasis in this administration will be to hold the line on property taxes, reduce the presence of drugs in town, and create a vibrant small-business community and inviting waterfront and beach. He looks forward to a strong and positive working relationship with the Council

This is my first term serving as a member of the North Beach Town Council. I am excited to undertake the position and I am very thankful that the residents of North Beach chose me to be a part of the leadership of North Beach.

I was raised in the home I now own on Frederick Ave. by my maternal grand mother and have wonderful memories as a child growing up in the area. After graduating from Northern High, I joined the Marine Corp and served from 1984 to 1988. This is where I picked up my desire to serve the community I live in. After the Marine Corp, I came back to Calvert and lived in Dunkirk, then moved to St. Leonard, where I lived until my return to North Beach in 2009. I just could not get away from wanting to “go home”, and North Beach is my home where I am happy to be raising my family.

I have had the good fortune to participate in the Calvert Dream, and have been a successful business owner, focusing primarily on the Real Estate industry. I am owner/realtor of one of the fastest growing Real Estate brokerage firms in Southern Maryland, Home Towne Real Estate as well as a Motivational/Business Coach. I currently serve on the Economic Development Commission for Calvert County, Economic Development Authority, Boys and Girls Club of So. MD, Academy of Finance, and the Workforce Investment Board of So. MD.

I truly love talking with people and small business owners and I look forward to serving the citizens of North Beach and working hard for the community!

II am currently serving my second term on the North Beach Town Council. Prior to being elected to the North Beach Town Council, I served on the North Beach Planning Commission and played an active role in implementing the vision for the town.

I hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and have more than 15 years experience working with at risk youth and parents. I am President and Co-Founder of Career Puppy, Inc., which is a multi-media company focused on assisting youth and career transitioning individuals “Find their Path and Make their Mark”. I have also worked at the local, state and federal levels to help create safe and healthy communities through school and community education partnerships.

I am originally from the small beach community of Santa Barbara, California and when I moved to North Beach with my husband, Aric, in 2000 I was instantly at home. The peaceful way of life is reminiscent of the tranquility and beauty of what I’ve come to appreciate about a small community of residents who love where they live. I am passionate about maintaining the rare beauty and strong sense of community we cherish here in North Beach.
Ken Wilcox is serving his first term on the North Beach Town Council. Ken has worked public service at the local, state, and federal level. He is committed to applying what he has learned to help improve the quality of life in North Beach. On the council he will work to ensure the town focuses on three goals: protect our safety and our home values; promote new businesses, new residents, and tourism; and preserve our beaches and our small town life.

Ken left a large law firm in DC to help families right here in Calvert County tackle their legal issues. He worked for 5 years in the Justice Department on budgeting, auditing and strategic planning. He worked in the internal review office of the Justice Department rooting out fraud, waste and abuse in government programs. He worked for Montgomery County on zoning issues and for the District of Columbia courts and Anne Arundel County prosecutors fighting crime and putting criminals behind bars.

He lived in the DC metro area all his adult life. But he and his wife, Kristin, chose North Beach as their home to raise a family in a safe and family-oriented town. He comes from a small town off the St. Lawrence River in New York state – a lot like North Beach. He received his law degree and Masters in Public Administration at American University and his undergraduate political science degree at Catholic University. Ken volunteers at his church and provides free legal counseling through a Calvert County Bar Association.
