There will be no bulk/trash/recyclables service on weekends
nor the following holidays: Christmas, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day or Thanksgiving Day.
HOUSEHOLD WASTE PICK-UP
• All trash will be placed on the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays and will be picked up by 7:00 p.m. All trash will be placed in a covered container. Trash containers will not exceed 35 gallons and weigh no more than 40 pounds. Southern Maryland Recycling is not required to collect household waste if it is not in an approved container.
YARD DEBRIS PICK-UP
• During the Household Waste Pick-Up described above, a maximum of four (4) clear bags and/or four (4) 3x2 foot tied bundles of yard debris will be picked up.
• During the months of October, November, December, March, April and May, a biweekly pick-up of bulk yard debris will be conducted in addition to the regular
household waste, bulk and recyclables.
BULK TRASH PICK-UP
• Bulk Trash will be picked up on Wednesdays on a bi-weekly schedule, rotating with the recyclables. Bulk Trash includes furniture, appliances, lawn mowers, air conditioners, etc. NO CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL OF ANY KIND WILL BE PICKED UP. CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL INCLUDES CARPETING, DOORS, STAIR RAILS, LUMBER, ETC.
RECYCLABLES PICK-UP
• Recyclables will be picked up on Wednesdays on a bi-weekly schedule, rotating with the bulk trash pick-up. All materials will be at the curb in a recycling bin. The Town of North Beach will provide all bins. Recyclable items are: tin and aluminum cans; plastic and glass bottles and jars; and newsprint. All jars, bottles and cans must be rinsed and free of any matter or liquids. The entire bin will be left if any items are not properly prepared. NOT ACCEPTABLE: PLASTIC BAGS, PIZZA BOXES, STYROFOAM CONTAINERS! Newspapers must be neatly bundled and at the curb for recycling. Newspapers only (no magazines) are picked up by SMR and placed in the Bayside Boys & Girls Club
dumpster.
UNACCEPTABLE TYPES OF WASTE
• Unacceptable types of waste will include any regulated quantity of a hazardous waste or hazardous substance as defined by federal, state or local laws or regulations: containerized wastes, the contents of which are not able to be identified; sludges; waste from a pollution control process or cleanup of a spill of a chemical substance or commercial product; any dead animal or animal parts; bio-hazards or regulated medical waste; friable asbestos, construction and demolition waste; soil, sod, tree stumps, paint, motor oil, tires, or any item too large or too heavy to be loaded into collection vehicles without assistance.
